It must have been Day 1 of launch training when we were told,

Do not ride motorbikes in Asia.. you will break your collarbone.. you will go home.. you might die..”

(Jk on the death part, but it was serious)

And then we proceeded to go through an entire safety, “choose-your-own-adventure” type course, where my team naturally chose the non-safe adventure.

I think in our scenario Morgan ended up getting hit by a car on a motorbike and then we went to a sketchy hospital and didn’t have insurance and it was horrible. Anyway, so we failed the launch safety course and vowed to do better when the real life scenario came.

Well, this past weekend our college students wanted to hang out with us. We had planned a trip to Hoi An and they eagerly offered to drive us on the back of their motorbikes! Honestly, my “rule book good Juju” side didn’t make a peep. I eagerly said Heck ya! Let’s do it! (Sorry mom, Seth, Bill.. AIM) BUT in our defense..

1. Aren’t we suppose to be building relationships? anndddd
2. Our budget is TIGHT you guys.. saving money on transportation.. WIN WIN!

So Sunday after church, we suited up on the back of some cool motorbikes and drove to Hoi An with some of the greatest kids I’ve ever met! We spent the day shopping and laughing, eating street food and ended the night praying over the city and being romantic on a river gondola. It was pretty amazing!!

We may have broken the rules, (truly sorry haha) but it was so far the best day I’ve had in Vietnam and I wouldn’t have changed it for anything!

oh and fun disclaimer, the song in the video is my brother-in-law, Lamar’s band!! The Notionaries! Song is Bandit and they’re pretty dang cool!!
