For The past month and a half, my team and I have been working at a refugee camp in the capital of Ethiopia. We generally are just playing with the kids and teaching English but even though we are the teachers, I’ve been taught so much. Most of the people at this camp have next to nothing. The kids all wear the same 2 outfits and their families have maybe 1 matress to share between all of them. It’s so sad to see but, out of all the people I’ve interacted with on the race, these people have the most joy I have ever seen. They are so willing to give up their lunch to feed the nice white people that play with their kids and they always hug us and invite us into their little tin room that they call a house. Being with these people has convites me of how much I complain and take things for granted. These people have no running water, yet I complain when the water pressure isn’t how I like it. They one have 1 or 2 outfits, yet I complain when my favorite shirt isn’t clean. This just proves that joy is from the Lord. Happiness comes from material things and it doesn’t last long, but joy is eternal and when we have no material things, we still have God. I’ve learned to be more appreciative of the little things in life and I’ve learned to have joy instead of happines. Thank you all for your love and support and for all the prayers that have gone out for me. I’ll be coming home in about a month and a half so if you would like to get coffee with me or just sit and talk with me about my experience then email me or message me on Faceboo. I would love to share all that God has done in the past 9 months!
