Meet Mrs. Devla!
This woman is amazing. She’s been married for 50 years to her husband Husso. Vanessa and I asked her, “If you can give us a secret to a long successful, happy and fun marriage, what would it be?” Her response..
“Remember those verses in the Bible that say..” and with her broken English I knew she was quoting these verses in Ephesians and James.
Ephesians 4“Be angry and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger…… Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear…….. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.”
James 1:19 “Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger;”
She said.. It’s about being friends. It’s about being patient and loving towards each other because of what Christ has done for us. She said even if my husband Husso is wrong, I need to be quiet and then once he’s finished talking I go up to him nicely and grab his hand and start talking to him hoping to love him and get to the root issue of what’s happening. Wow… I was so mesmerized by her responses. She said.. what’s the point in fighting and being angry? But she said.. “But remember..
