Dear friends and family,

I want to write this letter to share with you an opportunity that God has opened up for me. I was recently accepted to go on an 11-month mission trip called the World Race. The World Race is part of Adventures in Missions, an interdenominational missions organization that has sent over 100,000 people into the mission field since 1989. The World Race is one of their trips, specifically for young adults to travel to 11 countries in 11 months across 3 Continents. I will be leaving in January 2018 to travel to; Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Spain, Bulgaria, Montenegro, Serbia, Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, and the Philippines. While in each of these countries, my team will be partnering up with local churches and ministries to serve in areas of need.

I am in shock about this next step for me! I Truly wasn’t expecting for God to have this a part of my life. I knew my heart was about God and His people and yearned for adventure but I wasn’t expecting the call to go at this point in my life. This next step for me is a walk of obedience in faith. From the first moment I looked intently into the World Race I heard God say, “Go!” It took me 4 months of battling through prayer to finally take a step of faith in obedience. It’s hard to know God has called you somewhere but in order to get there you need to leave everything you know. This call to “Go” has truly been placed on my heart to fulfill the Great Commission – to go and make disciples of all nations. I want to live for the greater life Jesus has for me. I want my life to reflect one that is the hands and feet of Jesus. I want to live selflessly for the sake of His glory and the benefit of others. On the World Race, I will be living this way. All my possessions will be contained in a backpack for 11 months. It’ll be a raw and authentic way of life with my team. One of the scriptures that God confirmed this call was through Mark chapter 6.

“These were his instructions: “Take nothing for the journey except a staff—no bread, no bag, no money in your belts. Wear sandals but not an extra shirt. Whenever you enter a house, stay there until you leave that town. And if any place will not welcome you or listen to you, leave that place and shake the dust off your feet as a testimony against them.” They went out and preached that people should repent. They drove out many demons and anointed many sick people with oil and healed them.”

The journey God has called me on for these next 11 months is much like this passage of Scripture. I’m leaving what I have behind and taking very little with me. I’m leaving in the name of Jesus to spread the love of Jesus. This season will be a test of loving God, loving people and serving my world.

When God called me to go I came up with many excuses why not to go. One of those many reasons was my financial instability. God has pushed me to trust in His faithfulness and timing. So here I am walking out in obedience. I share all this with you to gain your support. I want to share this journey with you guys!

The total cost of this trip is $17,400 and it will be made 1 dollar at a time. Thanks for your support!

In Christ,

Joshua
