Love. I don’t know who you are, where in life you find yourself, or what you’ve been through, but I know to love and to be loved by those around you are two of the things you desire and long for the most. I know this because God created us this way. As humans we are relational beings which is reflected from the fact our God is a relational God. He is three in one and we are made in His image. Therfore it only makes sense for us to be relational as well. The ultimate end goal of a relationship is to love one another. These three days have this common theme of love and how being in a relationship with God and receiving His love is the best decision we can make.
February 14th has been the one day of the year I consistently wished I could just sleep through. Today was different. On a day I used to be annually consumed by loneliness I was excited to share about the love that surpasses all other love. We were going to go to the University campus but due to some communication issues with the school we weren’t allowed to go. We went to plan B and evangelized at the local mall here instead. Once we got there we had the opportunity to share about the Love of Christ and how ultimately if we don’t receive His great love and have a relationship with Him we will never experience true joy. Also, ending the day playing basketball with some of my squad mates and locals was a great way to end the best Valentine’s Day since elementary school. It’s hard to beat getting a box full of candy. Thank you Wirth Family for sponsoring V-day!

February 15th’s morning plans were canceled because of heavy rain, so we stayed in until the Cru meeting on campus that night. It was the first one of the semester and Our host Mpho spoke on singleness. She did an excellent job and made some great points. She emphasized how often times we only view being in a relationship as a blessing. While in the Bible, Paul mentions how it’s actually also a blessing to be single. Also, she mentioned how often times while we pursue relationships we look for someone “to complete us.” However, the fact of the matter is God didn’t make us in partial. He made us perfectly uniquely and complete. The love single people have a tendency to seek out from others is offered to us in a much greater volume from the one who created it. The fact that we have the natural inclination to think that another human has a greater capacity to love us than the one who created love, is honestly very foolish and embarrassin. In all, she had a well done and perfectly timed message. Thank you Pam and George Zaiser for sponsoring this relaxing and meaningful day.
February 17th was an awesome adventure day filled with nature and sport. It started off with waking up at 5:30am to go on a morning hike before it got to hot out. We went with Campus Crusade here at University of Botswana. The hike was well worth getting up that early. It was so beautiful. Seeing that view and others like it is a true testament of God’s love for us. He cares about us so deeply that He made such a beautiful creation that not only displays His beauty but also shows us how much he loves us. He gave us such beautiful nature for us to enjoy because He loves us. Later in the day my team also played some Spikeball and basketball at night (see my prior blog for more information on how that looks). Thank you Grandmom and Papa Jack for sponsoring this day in honor of my Aunt Clare’s Birthday!
If you get anything out of this blog pleas know that God loves you and no other love will ever compare. We have no right to eternal life with God because the wages of our sins is death. But God loved us so much that He sent his son down to earth, to live a blameless life as a flawless human to die on the cross for our sins. In rising again He conqerd death so that we may live. You are loved. It is that simple. If you have any questions or comments please feel free to email/message me or comment below, and once again thank you all for your support and feel free to share!
