December 16th was an adventure day for us. This month we have adventure days on Saturdays which allows us 1 day a week to explore the country we are in (all of which are payed for with personal money). On this day we went on a kayaking BBQ trip. We left from the lodge we are staying at and kayaked for about 45 min on Lake Malawi to a beach. Once we got there we through frisbee in the water and played soccer with locals who were at the beach. After soccer our tour guides made this great BBQ lunch with fresh pineapple for dessert. After lunch they set up a volleyball net and we played on the beach. On the way back from the beach we made two stops. The first stop was at a cliff and we all did a couple jumps off. On the last one I followed one of our tour guides leads and dove out of a tree. The second stop was our guides feeding eagles. They would throw in dead fish on a skewer and the eagle would swoop in, pluck it off the water and take it to a near by tree. Once we got back I played a few games of bawo (a local board game) and we went to get dinner. Once we got back from dinner myself and a few of my teammates watched Lion King on the edge of the deck under the countless stars. It was an amazing day that brought this team closer together and refreshed us for the days to come. Thank you Kurtz family for sponsoring this day of adventure.
Update on the Vlog: The prison ministry went great and I am excited to report that we will be going back on Christmas!
