Worked at the house to build some more furniture. Olman, some guy my age who lives here, was helping out. He doesn’t speak English and I barely speak Spanish, so it was interesting with all the hand motions and sound effects to talk to each other. He’s still learning how to do things the right way, and I can’t explain when he did things wrong or show him examples because of my arm being in a sling. Dan did a good job at teaching me the right ways to do things and I wish I could better explain things to Olman too. Wrong cuts and other experiences along with my gestures slowly teach him.
So, the election on Sunday was supposed to have the results posted yesterday. The current president is illegally running for office again, has postponed the results from being posted yesterday, and has threatened to turn off the power and water in all of Honduras if protests don’t stop. The people of Hondo ain’t too happy with that and started to burn some stuff down. For us here in the Valley, we will be staying home for a while since the riot party has decided to come to this city and threaten to burn down the mayor’s mansion if things don’t change.
In the spirit of all that’s going on, we have been playing a game named coo and will be playing it some more tomorrow. Such a fun card game. Ended the night with a movie.
