For the first part of the day, I studied Romans 2:12-16. It’s a topic not touched on much, and so I looked for answers. Been working on it a bit through the last half of this week, and decided to have a 6 hour sit down to collect thoughts, scripture, and to pray over it, come up with questions, and repeat the process. Still have some things to consider, just over those 5 verses, that I could study on for another week. The digging may never end, but it does bring great satisfaction.
Chilled out at a place called chill out lake. Twas chill.
Monsoons come out of nowhere. Had some fun getting home in the rain on a bike, and ended up stopping for a bit to swim in the city streets. I don’t really recommend this, as it is filthy water and tastes disgusting.
Headed out with Noah and Jonny to eat with a Muslim guy named Yaly. He was extremely welcoming for us to come into his house. His wife made the best meal I’ve had in Cambodia, and the dishes wouldn’t stop coming. “I see you finished the noodles! Wife! Please bring out some more noodles!” “You liked that? Have more! I will have another dish brought that you would also like.” Could learn from that hospitality. He absolutely loved God and people… Isn’t there scripture for that?
“Jesus replied: “ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.””
Matthew 22:37?-?40 NIV
While he may not have accepted Jesus Christ as his savior, he lives as though he has. How small are the differences from his doctrine to ours, yet he still lives out ours better than most, and he does so because he said he wants to follow the love that is in his heart more than the things that are in the world.
What can you and I lay down in our world to chase after the love of God in our hearts?
