I recently went to Victory Church last Sunday here in Jeffery’s Bay, let me tell you it was amazing. It felt like home and I felt like I belonged. André spoke about Joshua 3:1-17.

I am not going to talk about the whole sermon but I want to talk about what stuck out to me. In verse 4 it mentions “Do not come near it, in order that you may go, for you have not passed this way before.” We are not to make assumptions on our path and where we are going. Only God knows the way we go. God has our life in His hands.
In verse 8 the Lord says, “When you come to the brink of the waters of the Jordan, You shall stand still in the Jordan.” Imagine a flowing river, once we take a step we see that the water can take us and we could drown, so it’s our instinct to back away. But God commands that He has surrounded you and so when you stand in the river, even though it’s crazy, Your breakthrough comes when you take an active step of faith. Put your foot in the river, and STAND! Step back and watch the Lord do this for you.

There is something that I have been wondering since training camp. Questioning baptism and signifying that my life is handed to Jesus. I learned that salvation comes before baptism. Taking the step of believing Jesus is the son of God.Listening to André speak – I realized that I am ready to take that step into the Jordan and stand firm into the Lord. I have went ahead to ask my host, Mattys to baptize me.

I look back and think what kept holding me back, I just felt like to truly be ALL, 100% for Jesus that I had to be this perfect Christian that would never mess up. But that’s the enemy, plus you can’t get by without sins but acknowledging that Jesus has taken those sins for you will change everything. The enemy will and has made me step back because who wants to stand in flowing, strong water? But this time I say no more. God has dealt with all your past, all the way back to Adam. The enemy will use your past, sins, doubts to distract you from getting your breakthrough.

I want first dibs of Jesus Christ. Come on Lord, I want to see the promised land. I want to take the first step into the river. I am ready to fight for you!

“Vastly, I perfected but mercy met her gaze. He wrote in dust and something seemed to change. Guilty be her verdict, redemption be her grace. All weapons formed and hands against her raised compelled by love, carried all my shame, gave your lifeJesus. Compelled by live, in you I will remain. From death to life. Love has won. Compassion pulled His heart strings through trial left unchanged. Where shame has been, honor took its place. Face to face with love, a daughter left unscathed. Piercing through the darkness came the light that leads to life. We’re perfected by your perfect love, cause you are good and you never change. We’ll be praising till the end of days. For you are good and you never change.” [compelled by love // found creative]
