The Lord has taken me all over the World. I’ve been to the Himalayas, Angkor Wat, the African plains, and lagoons at 14,000 feet in Peru.
But my heart has never loved these as much as the coast.
I feel at ease and at home in the humidity with the ocean breeze. I love the unbearable heat and the salt in the air.
This month, my fellow squad leaders and I are serving in Cartagena, Colombia. It’s very similar to St. Augustine. There’s a Castillo and an old colonial town. It’s a great place to land for a month.
The Lord led us to a church called Calvary Chapel, It’s a church plant from a church in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. We went (and I translated the sermon from Spanish to English! Woohoo) and asked how to get involved.
One of their main ministries is going to a nearby island. This island is quite poor, but one of their biggest problems is a local of clean drinking water. It was quite interesting to stand on the shore of this little island without water while looking at the skyscrapers of Cartagena, just a boat ride away.
We went by boat and unloaded the ministry supplies. As soon as we topped the steps, kids ran to greet us and love on us. We did a morning of bible stories, songs, and just playing together. Loving kids in need of love.
Well be spending more time this month over on the island. Please pray that our ministry isn’t bountiful and fruitful! And that God would help this island see Him as their living water.
