Hey Hey! We made it to Thailand!! We are in the central part of the country, and it is pretty jungley here. Is jungley a word? I don’t know. But there have been a few times I have thought to myself, “I am literally Mowgli right now.”.
Our first few days here were really restful. We had a REALLY long travel day. But, if you ever fly through Malaysia, the airport is really nice. We took a night bus to Chaing Mai. We stayed at a YWAM base for a few days for cultural orientation, then, BOOM. Off to ministry!!!
Our ministry host is incredible. He is a local pastor and has such joy! We are his first mission team! He told us that he has been praying for a team to come since January! Origninally, we were supposed to go to a diffferent ministry host in the north. Then we were going to stay in Bangkok. But, we ended up here. We know, without a doubt, that the Lord has placed us here this month to support our host, love the Thai people, and proclaim the name of the Lord from the mountian tops (literally and figuratively).
Our first day here, we saw the Lord SHOW UP. The pastor took us on a few house visits on a nearby mountain. We walked into the downstairs part of the house and I saw this CUTE little boy. I started playing with him and it was so adorable. Kids are so awesome. He also had a little kid sized punching bag that he basically just used as a rope swing. So cute. After we chatted for a few minutes, we spent some time with his grandmother. She has also been praying for the Lord to send a team to the Pastor!
His grandmother fell down the stairs in her house four years ago. She had to have back surgery and needed crutches to shuffle around her home. She told us she had pain in her back and asked us to pray for her.
SPOILER ALERT: THE LORD HEALED HER. This is like something right out of the Bible.
We touched her legs first and each prayed for her. We prayed that the Lord, Jehovah Rapha, would come and heal her as a testament to His great love and for His glory. We thanked the Lord in faith for her healing and we asked the Lord to heal her and use it to build her grandson’s faith. The Lord says that He is our healer and that by His stripes we are healed. So, we commanded her flesh to align with the Word of God! And then, I held out my hands to her.
She grabbed my hand and didn’t reach for the crutches.
I walked with her around the house for a few laps. And the smile on her face! Wow. Then she asked us to pray for her back pain. We prayed a similar prayer and then she told us she had much less pain.
Then, Alex and I looked at each other and said at the same time, “Should we pray again?”
That obviously means yes.
So we prayed for her again.
Then Alex walked around with her for about 10 minutes. She was barely holding Alex’s hands! Praise! We saw her today and she said she still has no pain. Please pray for the Lord to continue to strenthen her muscles and her faith.
As I watched her do laps around her home, I thought about her faith. We prayed for healing in faith, and the Lord healed her. He doesn’t desire any of His children to be in pain. She could have stayed seated after we prayed. She could have reached for her crutches. But, she didn’t. She stood up. She put one foot out and put her weight on it. She put her weight on who the Lord says that He is. She let the Lord hold her. He held her up and moved her feet. He gave her strength back and He took away her pain. Please pray that she chooses to leave the crutches behind every day.
Put your weight on the Lord. He is who He says He is. His promises will withstand any weight and any storm.
Leave the cruthes behind.
Step out.
