We’ve been here in Swaziland for four days now. These past few days have been full of laughter, tears, joy, and love. I’m learning more about Jesus through these beautiful people I get to spend every day with. It’s the best beginning to the rest of these next nine months.

The first morning I woke up to the sweet sound of little kid’s laughter outside. I rushed to throw on my clothes and brush my teeth so I could go play outside with them. As soon as I stepped out on the porch my heart felt like it dropped right into my shoes, but in the best way. There were like six or seven little kids ready to spend time with us.

My friend Rachel started playing her ukulele and the kids started dancing. My eyes filled with tears because it finally became real. It finally hit me that I was actually here doing this thing. This thing that would change my life forever.

We spent the entire day basically playing outside with the children and coming inside to take naps because we were all soooo tired from traveling for three days. I was introduced to lots of kids, but I can only remember a few. I think it will get easier though once we start seeing them every day.

It’s Sunday so that means church day. It was everything I thought it would be and more. The service was so joyful. The lyrics in the worship songs repeated over and over again so we would shout them out because they were so easy to catch on to. I got to sit with the pastor’s kids. They loved my journal and decided to write me notes during the service. In one of the  songs Ntombi (the pastor’s daughter) and her brothers belted out a trio and it was adorable. I was in such awe of how powerful their voices were. Ntombi looked up at me with her beautiful brown eyes, gave me this big smile and made a proud face.

I adore the people here in Swaziland, their hearts are all so big. I miss everyone at home and I send my love to all the family and friends that are reading this!! Sorry to anyone who has been trying to contact me. We do not have wifi here at the place we are staying and honestly it’s been so good being off of technology.
