When we landed in Ethiopia, we stayed in the capital; Addis Abba for about a week. My team and I decided to take that time to build our team culture, adjust to a new continent, rest and pray into what the Lord has for us in Ethiopia. That week was very needed and so beneficial.
We have seen Papa’s love and favor continue to pour out over our team. In just the first week of being in Jinka, I have been so overwhelmed. Right before we got to Jinka, we talked to a different teams host and he put us in contact with a pastor here. This pastor has been such a blessing to us while being here. The night we arrived we were met at the bus station by pastor Yeshua, and his friend with a truck to take our bags.
We arrived to this beautiful home of a church member from Yeshua’s church. The family served us traditional ethiopian coffee, and boiled corn for dinner. We spent some time talking and hanging out with the family. We ended up staying in that families home that night in our tents (to protect us from the mosquito’s).
The next morning we woke up pretty early, did bible study as a team, our own personal time with the Lord and worship together as a team. We then had breakfast made for us by the wonderful family. WOW since then we have continued to spend time with this church family and they have been so helpful getting us in contact with different ministries here in Jinka; like the children center OMO Child.
We didn’t know what we were getting into in the next couple days. We switched housing from the wonderful family’s home to a hostel. Boy the next few days were rough. We didn’t eat much, got no sleep because of the people right outside our rooms until early morning. We felt very uneasy with being there, the rooms were not ideal; but we could get through it.
We are now in a place where I walked onto the property and I immediately felt safe. The feeling of safety has been key for our team this month. The Lord is teaching me alot about finding safety in Him and not in my surroundings, or people around me. I am safe with Him always!
