Well, I’m in India now! When we flew from Ecuador to India, we had a layover in Chicago! It was interesting seeing America after six months of traveling the world and, honestly, it kind of made me sick just seeing how people treated each other and how we have more than we really need. I was getting sick to my stomach going into Target and looking at the variety of stuff that we can buy and the abundance of it all. Even then, we still feel as if we still need to keep buying stuff to fill some void I guess. We are so consumer-based it seems. On the race, living out of a backpack has given me a different perspective. If people in America could look at what they already have every day instead of what they want to buy, I think they would be happier! Our living spaces on the race are nothing like we have in America either. Just so you know how much space we have lately… I’ve gotten used to staying in small buildings bunched up close to each other. Even parking lots are very small with lots of cars. In America we have huge parking lots with buildings spaced out ,which probably doesn’t sound like it’s a big deal, but it’s very different from what I’m used too… lol.
After arriving in India, I caught the flu and I was pretty sick. I’m good now, though, and once I started feeling better I began helping the doctors at the medical center. The second day, I was in the prayer room. When the patients were finished with their medical care, they would send them to the prayer room where the others and myself would pray for them. We, of course, would pray for their healing. Many of them would walk away in tears, so I can’t help but think that something happened within two days I got to help there. At the medical center, we had about 2,000 people go through on the days that I worked there. There were medical doctors, eye doctors, and dentists and it was wonderful to see God work through all of us in our different roles there at the medical center. People’s faces would light up just because they were able to get aid! I thank God for the opportunities he has put in front of me to help his people and to show the world that there is a God that cares for them and that they are not worthless but they have a father who cares for them!
