Our squad’s host while we are in Romania is Raul, but my team has been working with George who is a ministry partner. The second weekend we worked with him we were traveling to his church and as soon as we got there we were told to help out in the back with the wood. He allowed time for us to put up our bags and what not, then we went out back and started taking logs out of a BIG shed and put them in two different piles. One pile for the big wood that had to be cut into smaller pieces and the other if the wood was small enough not to be chopped. My team had created what I was calling a conga line otherwise know as an assembly line, passing each log to one another making sure the wood got in the right piles. Not sure how long this wood had be sitting there but I think it had been a long time cause there were ALL types of creepy crawlies. Every once in a while we heard a scream and the thud of wood crashing against the hard ground indicating that there was a gnarly spider about to bring death to one of the girls on my team. I am being a little over dramatic but this is honestly what it felt like. We also don’t live in Romania so these spiders could have possibly been poisonous to us. You can never be too sure!! Anyways, this got me to thinking: how do you start to fear something? Or should i just go straight to the deep question…
Does a God that is all-knowing and wants to give love freely place fear in our mind?

I looked and looked for this in the bible and I just couldn’t find a single thing. Which is so so so reassuring because I willingly serve the God who’s first command says to love one another as I have loved you. What I did find only showed me how much the Lord doesn’t want me to fear, but instead pours out his love in abundance. Jesus even tells us in Matthew 6:25,27 “So I tell you don’t worry about the food or drink you need to live, or about the clothes you need for your body… You can not add any time to your life by worrying about it.

These are more bible verse talking about trusting the Lord and not being afraid of whats to come.

Psalms 56:3-4 When I am afraid, I will trust you. I praise God for His word. I trust God, so I am not afraid. What can human beings do to me?

Matthew 8:26 Jesus answered, “Why are you afraid? You don’t have enough faith.” Then Jesus got up and gave a command to the wind and the waves, and it became completely calm.

God is ALWAYS in control of our lives.

Proverbs 4:23 Be careful what you think because your thoughts run your life.
Isaiah 41:13 I am the Lord your God, who holds you right hand, and I tell you, ‘Don’t be afraid. I will help you.’

John 16:33 “I told you these things so that you can have peace in me. In this world you will have trouble, but be brave! I have defeated the world.”

1 Peter 5:7 Give all your worries to Him because He cares about you.
Its hard not to fear things that come our way, I mean we are all humans here, but if you have fear in your life I encourage you to pray to God about it. Ask Him for peace on these things and for more faith than you did the last time. The last verse I picked out I think needs to be a constant reminder of how much The Lord cares for you and wants an abandoned trust from us because He gives it to us every second of everyday.

2 Timothy 1:7 God did not give us a spirit of fear but of power and love and self-control.

Also what has God brought you through that you once feared but the more you trusted His word and voice it became natural and you received an abundant faith from it. These are the things that we need to remind ourselves of because God moves mountains and I believe He will do it again!
