We are currently working on a video that highlights our main ministry here, but in the meantime, we wanted to share a blog post with you all written by our squadmate, Holly. Check out her story about God’s provision below!
“This month, we are being hosted by KIM, Kids International Ministry. As our hosts, they have been exceptional and provided us with things beyond what we need.
They cook all our meals and have a very nice location set up for us to stay in. With that, most days we have fried or hard boiled eggs for breakfast.
A large part of the ministry here is a feeding program. For the feeding, we cook a porridge meal with vegetables and protein. Some of the protein is from soy and some is from eggs.
Part of our team’s goal for the feeding program is to help expand it while we are here. So we went out and let the Lord lead us to pastors in local communities that had a Bible study or children’s program but didn’t have the resources to feed the children.
In doing that, we made lots of connections and had many pastors come to the ministry site this week to learn how to cook and meet with the KIM staff. In that meeting, Norm (one of the men working at KIM) was telling the pastors what kind of ingredients and materials they could provide. KIM said they would provide all of the ingredients for the porridge, and that they have an egg guy who would provide each pastor with eggs for the feedings.
And then Norm tells us the story about this egg man.
“We have a guy who donates all our eggs. He is a businessman and focused on the number of eggs his chickens produce, so he’s been tracking his output of eggs since he got started in the industry. A few years ago he felt God asking him to tithe to Norm’s children’s ministry here.
So the man started donating eggs.
On a regular basis, he began donating 6 boxes of eggs, with about 300 eggs in each box. After a while, he noticed a change in the number of eggs he produced.
Since he starting tithing eggs to Norms ministry, his production in eggs went up drastically. He was thankful and overjoyed at the way God provided, and he now donates 12 boxes regularly because God rewarded him greatly.”
. . .
I tell you this story because tithing looks different for different people. Sometimes it’s money, sometimes it’s time, sometimes it’s eggs.
Either way, God is always glorified when you tithe with a heart of obedience.
Because of his obedience, more kids have gotten to eat food and more nutritious food.
Because of his obedience, I get to eat eggs for breakfast this month.
Because of his obedience, the Lord rewarded him.
And then he turned around and tithed more out of a heart of thankfulness.”
