After two full travel days, we finally made it to Bali! We left Atlanta in the early morning on January 16th, had a layover in Chicago, followed by a 13 hour flight to Tokyo, and then an 8 hour flight to Jakarta, Indonesia. We spent the night at a hostel there with the rest of our squad, before heading back to the airport the next afternoon to catch our flight to Bali! Our team of 6 was met at the airport by our gracious ministry host, and it’s been a whirlwind ever since! Him and his wife are such amazing people, and we could not be more grateful to be spending the month with them, working together for the Kingdom.
So far, we have spent a lot of time doing outreach to locals and tourists in the area; praying with people all over the island in cafes, hospitals, malls, and along the streets; planning fun games and kid’s ministry for the children in our area; serving in the church we are working with (Alyssa has even had a chance to lead worship); and learning and growing with the people we have met so far in house churches around the island.
On our rest days, our host loves to take us on “adventure days” and show us his favorite hidden gems around the island (like the beautiful waterfall spot pictured below that he took us to go swimming in last week!) He loves this island and the people of Bali so much, and loves to exclaim, “Guys, this is real Bali!” whenever we go exploring with him!
We have felt so loved and welcomed by our host and the people of Bali that we have already connected with, and we are so thankful to God for this beautiful place and the opportunity we have to serve here!
Thank you for your continued prayers and support! Our prayer requests would be for continued unity amongst our team, open hearts for the people that we come in contact with, boldness to continue sharing the Good News with the people here, for our ministry hosts to feel encouraged and uplifted as we serve and support them, and for our marriage and continued growth and closeness between us while we are serving here.
Check out some pictures below from our time in Bali so far, as well as our travel video at the bottom from our first few travel days. Love you all!
