Hello loved and dear ones! I’m sorry it’s been a hot minute since I’ve updated anyone, there’s just been so many good things going on!! I’m almost done with month five, AND more than halfway done with the Race! WHAT?! In honor of these rollercoaster five months, here’s my lists of five for ya:
5 worship songs I’ve had God moments to:
– Reckless Love
– Simple Gospel
– Since Your Love
– A Prayer
& Priceless
5 embarrassing moments:
– In a moment of fear, I peed my pants and had to walk past half the squad in my urinated state.
When I told a story about dog sitting a canine with epilepsy I told everyone she had “caesars” instead of seizures.
I tripped over my big pack, flat on my face, in front of the entire squad, and I was the only one that laughed. This was before we’d even left the United States.
The worst day ever. I was half asleep and running down marble stairs, unaware that the floor below had just been mopped. You can guess what happened. The whole squad saw.
I was the second person in line for dinner and knocked over all of the shredded cheese that the person directly behind me had hand grated for an hour.
5 regular songs I’ve jammed too hard to:
-Unforgettable by Thomas Rhett
-Sedated by Hozier
-Sleep On The Floor by The Lumineers
-Favorite Record by Fall Out Boy
& Jackie and Wilson by Hozier(always)
5 times I’ve seen God:
– A pure white and a solid black horse hanging out on our way to ministry one day in Honduras. Still don’t know where they came from.
– Literally every message I get from Gabs Boyle. I am completely convinced the Lord has appointed her my guardian angel and uses her as his mouthpiece when I won’t listen to him.
– My host in Honduras being as big(if not more so) of a Star Wars fanatic as I am and taking our squad to see the most recent movie. Homesickness had been hitting really hard that week and a blast from my childhood was exactly what I had needed.
– Finding Sarivong(refer to my earlier blogs)
& God allowing a total stranger to meet a few of my squamates during debrief, him joining us for secession that evening, him deciding to follow the Lord for the rest of his days and be born again, and then seeing him at church the next week.
5 things God has said to me:
-Stop faking it.
-Do you think there’s anything I don’t love you enough to do for you?
-Honorable doesn’t delight in the things that break my heart.
-Look to me, and friends will follow.
& I’m asking you to because I love them.
5 things from back home that have made me feel very loved:
-Gabi Boyle saying I radiate sunshine
– Emma Pitcock posting about my smiley face orange.
– My parents telling me how much they missed hearing my voice.
– The eleven missed calls from my grandma when I was in a Wifi drought.
& All the hbd emails, not a single one went unappreciated my loves!!!
5 things to know about my ministry time in Guatemala:
– I teach English 2 days a week, and do prep and work projects the other three
– I live on an Adventures in Missions base in Paramos, just outside of Antigua
– I help teach close to 75 precious niños
– I love it. My heart has always loved Central American people thanks to a few gems scattered throughout my life time.
& I could definitely live here. Not really asking to at the moment, but I could.
5 things here that have made me feel very loved:
– Eileen Fires bringing granola bars to debrief for me
– my teammates buying me chocolate milk after a bad day
– Alex Brown sitting a the “police station” with me for an hour and a half so I could fill out a lost passport report
– Someone remembering the names of all of my best friends
& Taley Smith asking me to go to dinner with her and her aunt in Thailand. I was incredibly honored that she asked me.
5 things I regret bringing:
– My grandpa’s sweatshirt. Should have been kept in the a safety of my closet at home.
– overalls
– sleeing pad- popped month one and I’ve slept on a clean floor or a bed since then.
– a WetComb, broke the first week. A brush would have been better.
& a new Bible, I miss the references in my study Bible.
5 things I wish I would have brought:
– My kavu
– My DSLR
– a cardigan
– my two strap birks
& my favorite pair of boyfriend jeans/ belt
5 reasons why the second half of the race is going to be different than the first:
– I’m going to stop fighting God on his plans for me
– I’m going to hand him bitterness, loneliness, and self pity because He’s asked me to
– I’m going to start looking for ways to serve instead of ways to sit
– I’m going to chase relationships. Whether at home, on my squad or a local, I can’t be selfish anymore when the harvest is plentiful.
& I’m going to press into the trials I’m handed with thankfulness that the Lord sees the potential I can glean from them.
That’s all folks! Until next time,
g
