The incredible women mentioned in the story below need financial support to continue on the World Race with me. Please visit their blogs and donate as you feel led. You may not know them, but I can promise you that they are loving me and the people we’ve been called to serve so so diligently and are essential to my wellbeing for the next 7 months. Thanks and blessins.

I had my low as a respectable lady the other night. I had just put on some jeans I had acquired at the local Goodwill, and went to keep my teammates Leah and Alex company as they did the laundry of our fallen teammate Joe, who dislocated/fractured his shoulder going too ham cutting wood. We were carrying on a lovely conversation when we were joined by a HUGE HUGE HUGE PLATE SIZED spider. We-naturally-screamed and ran when it charged at us, and I peed my pants for the first time since preschool, forming an actual puddle. I panicked, and tried to sneak down the halls and past the large group of my peers meeting in the living room RIGHT OUTSIDE the door to my room. I grabbed my shower stuff, snuck back past the living room powwow as fast as I could, then sprinted upstairs to use the boy’s bathroom because the downstairs shower was occupied.

Things to note: I was on my period, the whole house was out of toilet paper, and I had been storing some of my shower stuff in the downstairs bathroom under the sink. I finally made it to the shower, realized I’d not only peed but had been greeted by my monthly friend, was unable to find any tp, and learned that I had left my body wash downstairs. The water in our house is sourced straight from the Artic Sea(not really, but it might as well be), so I splashed the water towards myself as I danced up and down on one foot, trying not to get drenched or get hypothermia, and had to steal someone’s Suave for Men body wash to attempt to clean my body of all the fluids. So good. I laugh about it now, but it was slightly traumatizing. Hope it made you chuckle.

I live in Honduras now! We live in the gloriously beautiful and peaceful Valle de Angeles and are serving with the ministry Hope at Hand, run by our lovely hosts, David and Scarlet. We are helping reach the physical needs of the special needs community up the road from our home, providing breakfast to impoverished kids in rural mountain communities, and making piñatas. It’s grand. My soul definitely thrives in the mountains, and it’s difficult to find anything to complain about in a place that screams the goodness and creativity of our Creator.

 Prayer requests:

Safety in the Valle. Didn’t know this when I signed up, but Honduras has the highest murder rate per capita of a non warring country in the world  Please pray for peace and hearts that are open to receiving the love that the Lord has for every person here.
