Thanks to some super stellar friends i met at the most authentic place i have yet to step foot in, PCC(passion city church), i was introduced to a cool+hip new way to really search yourself and search for God in this new year.

Is it two months into the new year? Am i just settling down on a word?

YUP. YOU GUESSED IT. BUT BETTER L8 THAN NEVER RIGHT.

for·sak·en
adjective

1. abandoned or deserted.
“a journey into forgotten and forsaken places”

I’ll be honest. When God first laid this word on my heart I ran real hard and real fast from it. So that all of you lovely pals out there can kinda hop onto my thought train in this moment- I kinda really totally didn’t see joy or light in this word. And personally, that is where I was hoping this year would take me; to joy & light.

Forsaken just did not fit my criteria for I, me, silly 17 year old grace‘s upcoming year. There I go again; Putting our ground-shaking, star-making, creator of all things God in a box.

When I went to the word to see exactly where this word forsaken comes up, and what it means and why it’s used and how it’s used- Psalm 77:8

“Has His lovingkindness ceased forever? Has His promise come to an end forever?” THE ANSWER IS NO, A MILLION TIMES OVER NO!

If you jump down just a few verses to 77:14, it says,

You are the God who works wonders;
    you have made known your might among the peoples.”

OUR GOD, MY GOD, YOUR GOD, THE GOD WHO CHERISHES AND ADMIRES THE FORSAKEN, WORKS WONDERS. WON-DERS. That seriously shakes my whole worlllld. All of the negative associations the world has given to forsaken is so beyond wrong. Forsaken is just a set of circumstances that gives God the chance to show up BIG. The places that need Him most will undoubtedly be drenched in His freely given love.

These places that the world has labeled forsaken call my name. He will not leave you abandoned and forsaken my sweet (future) brothers and sisters in Christ. He knows you like He knows the stars.

Counting down the days until I am there with you, reminding you daily of the God who turns forsaken into free.
