Our new motto is “No problem!” because we have basically been smiling and nodding and just going with the flow since arriving here. It has been a crazy ride (quite literally at times!) but thankfully God is our driver.
Every morning I wake up to this view and think, “Is this really my life for the next year?!?!”
I can’t believe we have already been in this beautiful new city for a week. The people here have been continuously loving on us and pouring into us and it has been so humbling. They were just as surprised as we were when we showed up, yet that has not stopped them from being so generous and loving. We have loved building relationships with them and getting to encourage them as they build the Kingdom in such a desolate place.
There is a lot of spiritual warfare here and there is a very heavy atmosphere because of it. Five times a day there is a call to prayer from all of the mosques (the first at 4:30am… nothing like a brutal wake-up call!). We have treated these as our own call to prayer and worship. We use this time to intercede, asking God to radically change this city and that in return it will have a ripple effect on all of Indonesia. It is humbling to be in God’s army, fighting for His church in a community that is desperate for Him, whether they realize it or not.

The other day some of us went adventuring. It is a mile walk everyday to the church we are connecting with. Everyday we look down and see the river with a cute little rainbow bridge crossing it. So we finally ventured down to the rainbow bridge. From the top, the road down looked intimidating and uncertain. But one step at a time we got there and the path ended up not being as dangerous or risky as we thought it was going to be. (Food for thought: This also reflects our journey here so far on the World Race, and basically life in general!) The hike was so worth it! It was such a beautiful sight. Then in the midst of walking across we were joined on the tiny (not exactly sturdy) bridge by a moto. You experience something new everyday… but “No problem!”

Sometimes there is a really stunning view and you want to take a hipster pic. And sometimes your friend has a really great tattoo to make it work. So sometimes it results in you practicing your squatty potty pose just to get the perfect shot. (#worthit)
Specific prayer requests:
-continued perseverance and motivation as we actively intercede
-more opportunities to serve the people here and love them well
-continued unity among my team (seriously, they’re the best)
