This past evening Pastor Gregorio asked our whole team to step inside the house where the family had gathered. Pastor wanted us to pray for his 6-year-old granddaughter Kaidry, who had been sick for the past 2 days. We had seen Kaidry hours before and she appeared to be sick with a cold, stuffy nose, coughing and fever.
Nothing to get too concerned about.
However, when we stepped into the house we could see the stark contrast to the same bubbly little girl we had seen hours before. Kaidry sat limp in her mothers arms, eyes half closed, sweat all over her body with her heart beat racing. The difference was unsettling; so much had changed in such a short amount of time.
We all surrounded her, placing a hand on her hot little body for prayer. Asking God to break the fever, give her energy and clear her mind. With +10 people around to pray for Kaidry I knew something was going to happen.
God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think. Ephesians 3:20
When the prayer was over, our medical personal (1 paramedic and 3 nurses) got to work evaluating her health. The family wanted to take her to the hospital due to her racing heartbeat and how quickly she changed throughout the evening. I stepped back offering support to my teammates if they needed it, but mostly continuing to pray for Kaidry.
I watched as they took her pulse, and listened to her heartbeat, how they felt her head and observed her actions. So far there had been no sign of improvement. To cool Kaidry down, we jumped in the shower to see if that would make her more comfortable. When she came out we gave her more medicine to break the fever, advised her to drink a lot more water and rest. Nothing out of the ordinary, so we now needed to wait and see.
As a team we went back to our room to pray and have feedback. Within an hour our door slowly opened and Kaidry walked inside.
Everything about Kaidry had changed.
Back was the little girl who loves to smile and give hugs.
Back was the little girl who always has something to say.
Back was the little girl who felt more like a little sister to me.
Kaidry was herself, ready and willing to play. By the hug of thanks she gave to each one of us, I could feel all the strength had returned to her body.
God was present when we prayed for Kaidry that evening, He saw the sickness and pain she was feeling and he healed her.
Never had I experienced God’s healing like I did that night. Everything about Kaidry turned around so quickly; it left me in complete amazement of God’s magnificent power.
Seeing what he did this evening, makes me so excited for what he will do in the future!
But I will sing of your strength, in the morning I will sing of your love; for you are my fortress, my refuge in times of trouble. You are my strength, I sing praise to you; you, God, are my fortress, my God on whom I can rely.
Psalm 59:16-17
