As God was creating the earth He made it functional. He made the earth a living form, a place that breaths fire and blows air. With each intake of breath the wind passes by our faces, when Gods ready for an exhale, the volcano breaths out smoke. The volcano near us has been steadily releasing smoke giving us a glimpse of what hides below the surface. God has all the power, he and he alone knows when the volcano will blow and what the cities will look like after.
At night when all the lights of the world are out, the lights of the volcano continue to shine. You can see bursts of lava that shoot from the volcano in a magical display of power. God wasn’t done when he turned off the lights at night, he continued to make the world beautiful and mighty.
2 Corinthians 4:6
For God who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ.
The same light that comes from deep within the earth, from the sunrise and the sunset also lives in our hearts. The light lives inside us in order for God to show his deep love for his children. God sees each of us who have dedicated our lives to him as a child, he has put the light inside each of our hearts and we each act as a volcano. Giving life to the darkness, pressing in to know him more. Sometimes we may spew a little lava that gets the missionaries excited at night, other times we may erupt, lighting up the whole sky captivating the attention of all around us. When we spew lava and erupt it is our way of showing whom God is and what some of His power can look like.
When a volcano erupts it changes the earth, it can alter what was once there. Volcanoes are so powerful that new islands, mountains, plains, lakes and ocean floors are created. God is never finished with His children; we are constantly changing and adapting to become more Christ like. Just like volcanoes change the earth, all it takes is the light of the Lord in our hearts.
Isaiah 61:3 He makes beauty out of ashes.
