We made it!!! Our team made it to El Salvador and we are currently sitting in…. STARBUCKS! Haha our ministry host Pastor Melvin and his wife Dina do not have wifi sooo we had to come to one of my favorite places.

Don’t worry we did have exceptionally good Salvadorian coffee before leaving the church this morning, then we came to Starbucks or as Pastor Melvin calls it ‘his office’. In Melvin’s office we had an awesome meeting this morning to discuss what our ministry is going to look like for the month.

We are blessed to be able to work with the church Iglesia Mas Que Vencedores (MQV for short) located in Santa Ana. Which translates to ‘We are more than conquerors! (Romans 8:37). Pastor Melvin and Dina are full of love and life, Pastor Melvin even has a bonsai tree named Rocco. We have been welcomed into the church with many hugs and kisses from both the people and the dogs. If you know me at all, you know I love dogs and these dogs love to be pet.

The dogs and people are responding to my limited Spanish but I may need things repeated a few extra times!!!! It’s a good thing we have four months in Central America that allows me a lot of practice. Today I asked a question to Melvin, Dina and their daughter Sofie and received a look. I thought I asked the wrong question, or it was offensive, but they were actually just really impressed that I was able to speak so fast with a ‘good’ accent! Gracias Senora Watson!

I did have a mouse scare, the rescue church dog Cosita (little thing) found a mouse outside and was trying to catch it. I took on the role of cheerleader for Cosita, watching from a safe distance. Next to me Pastor Melvin was preparing Cosita’s dinner and he threw a black grocery bag at my feet while yelling, “MOUSE!” I leaped in the air, and got 10 feet away in the matter of milliseconds all while screaming at the top of my lungs. Once I figured out that the ‘mouse’ was really a bag Pastor Melvin and I had a really good laugh. Moral of this story is I am now cautious around Pastor Melvin because he enjoys scaring me. Maybe one day I’ll get him back.

Living situation: This month we are really lucky to have a nice big shower indoors. We also have a blue toilet as well as bunk beds!

Bug update: Day 1 there was a cockroach. Chelsea took care of it and I only freaked out a little.

Each month I am going to have an introductory blog giving you a view into the month. Hear you will find the updates on our ministry, living situation, funny stories and my stories of the world. I will also be blogging on day-to-day life so you get to see how the Lord is working in my life.
