Well, if you didn’t know by now, this Christmas was bound to look a little different for me.

I am about 8,845 miles away from home serving in Chiang Rai, Thailand, with a ministry called SWAT (Spiritual Warriors Against Trafficking). This ministry focuses on training both those that have been rescued as well as the rescuers. It also focuses on building up self-worth for the ones that are coming out of sex trafficking and teaching them that they are worth fighting for.

After a couple of weeks of being here, Christmas had arrived. Our ministry host this month are from America, so it’s been great to be able to have a little piece of home here in Thailand. We’ve been able to attend Christmas parties (with 6 different nationalities in attendance…how cool?!), bake cookies, go shopping for presents, and even assist Santa for our ministry hosts’ children!

Here is a little glimpse into what my Christmas Day looked like:

Right when I woke up, I went outside and called my lovely family (it was their Christmas Eve, my Christmas morning!) (Also, I forgot to take a picture, so I’m stealing Mom’s ๐Ÿ™‚ )

After my team had talked to their family, we went to the kitchen to prepare a hearty Christmas breakfast: pancakes, potatoes, and eggs!

After breakfast we exchanged our sock presents! Brit had me and WOW, she just knows me so well! She filled it with sprite, Oreos, chocolate, more chocolate, and some pens. SPOT. ON.

Then we took this cute Radiant Family pic:

Next on the agenda was to watch the Grinch and attempt a puzzle.

Then I ate some noodles for lunch! Felt like home. ๐Ÿ™‚

We headed over later to another missionary family’s house for a bonfire!

After arriving home I immediately called my family AGAIN for their Christmas morning!

Look how cute/ridiculous my mother is:

Then I went to sleep!

I hope you and your family had the most wonderful day full of all the things that make Christmas special for y’all!

While being away from home was hard, it honestly helped take a step back from all the hustle and bustle of the holidays and gain new perspective. We celebrate because God sent His Son to us. To redeem us. He made this life we are living possible. How great is He?!

Merry Christmas, y’all! ๐Ÿ™‚
