11/30
9am a sweet, bubbly Jessica came bounding into my room jumping and dancing on my bed singing happy birthday in the most theatrical way possible – freshly made cheesy egg burrito in hand. Laughing and cheesing hard, I thank her as she placed the burrito in my lap.
We didn’t have much to do, so the main of my day consisted of movies, sweet notes and “bad poems” from Megan (because she knows they are my favorite), talking to family and friends back home and Oreo runs to the store with Jesse.
As the day slowed down, my heart started getting sicker and sicker as I read the posts and messages from my Lynchburg family. This race is an amazing exciting adventure, but sometimes I wish I could run back to quiet lil old Lyh for just a day. I miss the familiar in ways I didn’t think I would, especially during these days full of new.
My really wonderful family of a team noticed I was having a hard day so that night after team time they quarantined me to my room. After about a half hour they pulled me out, handed me a stack of letters, and led me to a couch with a sign that had my name on it. An open laptop in front of me, I didn’t stop laughing for a solid 2 minutes as the funnies, cringiest videos they had made moments before played on the screen. (scrolling down for those sick vids) Immediately after, Jesse brought out a tub of chocolate ice cream topped with a colored red Q-tip (in place of a candle) while singing happy birthday. I am so thankful for a team that loves me so well even on my bad days. I really don’t deserve them.
Fundraising update!! (Woot woot yay fun)
I am currently around 2,400 dollars away from my goal with 20 days left before my deadline. I fully trust that God can provide this money, and I’m asking for your help. Even the smallest amounts help more than you know!! I am so thankful for how God has already provided for me through my friends and family and I’m praying He continues to do so!
Much love,
Emily
Duh duh DUHHH – welcome to the encore
