In the past year I’ve had the privilege of living in some super bomb cities surrounded by mountains. Being the wonder junkie that I am, I find tons of joy in seeking great mountain hikes and marvelous sunsets.

Today we were riding in the song thaew, swimsuits still wet from a waterfall adventure, wind in my hair, Ben Rector in my earbuds, sunset peeking through the mountains.

I couldn’t stop staring as the mountains turned the sun into vibrant shades of orange and red. When I finally peeled my eyes off of the sunset, I was able to turn around and find a view equally as brilliant. I got to witness the clouds melting into beautiful pastel shades of cotton candy. The vibrancy of the west did something beautiful in creating a stunning palette of cool contrasting colors in the east.

While the act of looking away from the sunset isn’t anything special in itself, the Lord was able to speak some really cool things into it.

Darling, there’s beauty in everything. It’s something special to be able to see the beauty in the things that others choose not to look at. While everyone else is content with seeing things through the worlds eyes, you choose to see things the way that I see them. I gave you this perspective in order to allow you the pleasure of finding my nuggets of beauty on this Earth. You’re able to see beauty, share that perspective.

This is what it looks like to be a missionary anywhere you are. Seek those unseen. Seek the things that others have their backs turned to. Don’t be satisfied until you’re able to find me in everything.

Take some time today to look for the back side of the sunset. Look for that person that others don’t give the time of day. Look for the beauty in the little moments of life.
