When I think about the time that I’ll be spending with the World Race, I envision myself loving on people, meeting needs, and being an obedient Christ follower. The idea of being immersed in new cultures and meeting new people makes me so excited.

While I’m pumped for this experience, I’ve been feeling convicted by the call to do the exact same thing here. What’s stopping me from meeting the needs that are in my community? There are people right here, in our hometowns, that are struggling to get by. The hunger and poverty might not be as blatantly apparent as it is in some other countries, but it’s present. God calls us to be his humble servants in every situation. Not just when it’s easy for us. Not just when our finances seem to be steady. Not just when we’re in a great mood.

In every situation that we’re put into, we’ve been given a platform to minister. Whether we’re meant to lead a large group of people or simply be the friend that holds another accountable. God can use each of us. Because of this, our actions should be a positive representation of who Christ is whether we’re sitting in class, on a missions trip, or ordering Americanos at the local coffee shop.

As Matthews 5:47 says, “If you are only kind to your friends, how are you different from anyone else?” But, honestly, how great is it that we’ve been given this gift of encouragement that doesn’t require us to sacrifice anything. What is stopping us from using this gift?

Being a Christ follower doesn’t mean meeting needs at our convenience. It means constantly being aware of how we’re able to show God’s love in every situation. This doesn’t mean just in church settings or just on missions trips. It means in every place. Every situation. God has the ability to use us to do His work, regardless of our circumstances. Take the leap. Impact your community. Go all in. Commit your heart to opening up to what God wants from you. Anytime. Anywhere. Let us make the decision to LOVE wholeheartedly.
