Dear Tucker,
The first thing I want to say before I say anything else is that I love you. You have no clue how God has already used you to impact our family, and especially me. You have absolutely flipped my world upside down, and you will forever have a piece of my heart.
God used you to make me realize what this life is truly about. It was the first chance I got to hold you after my graduation. All it took was a simple smile, and it changed me forever. That smile made me realize that my life was not based off a successful career or reputation, but of complete fulfillment in Christ. You will never remember that moment, but I promise you I will never forget it.
I want you to know that your mom is, and always will be my big sister. My whole life she has taken care of me, she has protected me, and she basically paved the way for me. She made my life so much better, and I don’t know what I would do without her. Always honor your mom and dad, and never go to bed with out telling them you love them and how much you appreciate them.
If I had to pick one piece of advice to give you, I would say to ALWAYS consider others before yourself. Philippians 2:3 says, “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves.” The Bible also says, “Pride leads to disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.” -Proverbs 11:2. Let consideration for others be the joy of your heart because of how the Lord has blessed you.
Spending the holiday season away from you and the family is not easy. I know that this journey I’m on is what God has called me to, and I am very thankful for it. Although I know I am right where I am suppose to be, I’m sorry. I’m sorry I won’t be there for Thanksgiving to help build you a tower of leaves that you can dive into a million times. I’m sorry I won’t be there for Christmas to rip gifts open and play with your new toys all day long until you pass out. I’m sorry I won’t be there for New Years to help pick out every firework possible to make you happy, and the sparklers end up being the most amusing to you. I truly wish I could be there with you, and I promise that I will make it up to you.
Our family is so blessed by you, and I am honored to be your uncle.
You are loved, chosen, blessed, favored. You are a child of God.
With all of my heart,
Uncle D
