So me and my teammates decided we would do a blog where we would say a fun Fact or something funny about each other, and also a serious thing about one another! So here is what my teammates had to say about me!!
Kara- If I have learned anything about Dakota over the last 2 months it would be that he likes to pull pranks, and is a tad bit scared of spiders. He’s passionate about coke, and the last piece of cake in the refrigerator. It’s been really cool to see Dakota open up with our team more and more each day and see his love for the Lord. He’s been super blessed with the ability to play the drums, make people laugh, and bond with kids through sports ministry. I hope when we get back from the race we’ll have the chance to play a round of Walmart hide-n-seek. Dakota scored a 8.63 on his best piece of oven baked cinnamon toast.
Zach Y.-Dakota is always looking for opportunities to prank. He has a great sense of humor and I’ve had lots of great laughs with him. He loves soda a lot. Dakota is always looking to interact with people in the community even if it’s not ministry time. It’s so encouraging to see his desire and passion to interact with them. I really value his friendship.
Zack T (squad leader)- Dakota used to be a soccer referee and he loves pranking his teammates. He was baptized at training camp and I love to hear him share stories from that time. He nappy-haired and very silly, and we love him!
Alina- Dakota definitely enjoys pranking people whenever he gets the chance. He is constantly making himself laugh it seems like. Also if available you will for sure see him with a soda in hand.
Something I’ve learned about his spiritual journey since being on the race is that he thrives during worship. The Lord has installed this great love inside of him for creating music(specially drumming.) It is such a blessing for our whole squad that he can serve us through music. I can tell that worship is something he deeply connects with the Lord through.
Matt- Dakota is probably one of the biggest pranksters I’ve ever met. I cannot recall a moment when he is not sticking a piece of straw into my ear, grabbing my leg hair pretending it’s a spider, meowing like a cat (which I am somewhat fearful of) or jumping out from behind a door to scare someone. He never ceases. He is awesome in worship services; he plays percussion and is very passionate about it. He is devoted to praising God.
Josie- DAKOTA: 18 and from Georgia
During training camp I don’t remember Dakota ever telling us about his love for music, and if he did I never pictured him being an amazingly talented drummer. During month one our hosts had a cajon drum, and so the first night of worship as the singer began and Dakota fell in line with the beat I sat there and stared in shock. Not in a bad way but more of an “I didn’t expect this” kind of way. Up until Botswana we’ve had a drum in both countries we’ve been to, and it’s so fun to have him involved in worship.
During ministry Dakota comes alive the most when we are doing something active. He went to the old basketball court in the DR with the group who spent the most time there, and in Haiti I saw him playing basketball with the orphans on the compound. We’ve been in Botswana for 4 days now, and already he’s found out where there is a soccer field and a soccer ball he can use. It’s fun to see him passionate about sports and doing ministry through that.
Kate- FUN FACT! Dakota = The. World’s. Biggest. Prankster. Seriously life is never dull with all of his crazy ideas and hilarious ways of scaring people. Dakota has made such an impact in my life because of the ways that he is able to be sensitive to other people. The ways that he cares for our team is humble, and he has so much wisdom. He really thinks deeply about things and seeks understanding and knowledge. I’m thankful for the ways that he seeks to please the Lord instead of people.
Noah- Do not let this man sit behind you on a bus! He loves to play with people. And by that I mean make them think that they have bugs in their ears by sticking pieces of grass in them and acting like none of it even happened. Never have I ever met someone that loves a good prank like Dakota. Far from being all about pranks there is a vast side of Dakota that deeply desires to know god deeper. He is often soft spoken but when he does speak to anyone about god he has an understanding that you might be surprised by.
