An amazing story from Titayen, we where doing S.V.T (Strategic Village Time) again and we were talking to this 19 year old that spoke very good English, just me and like two other guys and we were asking him about if he goes to church, and if he has a good relationship with god and he said yes and he actually goes to The Mission of Hope Church. But then his buddy walked up that he had not seen in a while so we started talking to him also because he spoke very good English as well. But we asked if if he was a Christian and he said he used to be but he isn’t anymore, so of course we asked him why and he said he couldn’t provide for his family so he had to become a Drug dealer and that’s the only job he could find because it’s hard to find jobs in Haiti, but he said he is waiting to get his life back together before he will go back to church and be a Christian again. We then described to him that the Bible says God will meet us where we are and that no sin is greater than another! This was on Tuesday and on Tuesday’s Mission of Hope has a worship service at night so we prayed over him after talking to him after about 30 mins, and afterwards we encouraged him to come to church, but he said he probably won’t come so don’t plan on him being there because he was ashamed because some people know him and know what he does. He didn’t feel worthy enough to come to church because he was ashamed and in Haiti it isn’t culturally appropriate to not wear nice clothes (dress shirt and nice pants) to church so he also said he didn’t have clothes, then he left!

That night as we were walking down to the church I was talking to another kid named Jude that I became friends with from another village and I looked over and Finole (the drug dealer) was standing there on the concrete path waiting for me and the other guys that talked to him he was wearing a nice shirt but not so nice shorts and flip flops, which like I said is not really appropriate in Haiti, of course the church let’s everyone in but it’s Haitian people that judge other Haitians about their clothes is why it’s such a big deal (which is awful). But I got chills when I seen him and walked up and gave him a hug and man it was one of the best things that has happened in my entire life, it was like being in a dream, it was insane! After church we found him again and talked to him more just trying to encourage him more, and reiterated what we had said earlier that day! He told us that if he would have never met us that day he wouldn’t have even had a thought in his head about going to church! So we invited him to come to church again Sunday and so hopefully I will see him at church again Sunday! It’s just awesome we are here for the month so we can keep disciplining him whenever we see him and maybe by the time we leave he will give his life to Jesus again and not have to be a drug dealer because God will provide for him!
