This week I wanted to do a photo blog and I decided to do it about the different foods I ate in Thailand. I hope you enjoy it.
Most mornings I had oatmeal or granola at home before we started our work for the day which was usually manual labor. I also made my coffee at home most mornings. Every once in a while I got coffee out and about at different cafes. I also ate breakfast out during our last few days in Thailand during our Leadership Development Weekend we had in Bangkok right before leaving to Serbia.

My favorite thing to drink in Thailand was Thai tea. It’s this orange drink you see in the pictures below. I had it a lot. One day, our hosts sister made us Thai tea and you can see it in the top middle picture. We also had ice cream, donuts, cake, Roti – right middle picture (which is like a crepe with banana and sweetened condensed milk drizzled on top) and a passion fruit drink. I’m going to miss Thai tea. By the way, that pineapple donut was sooooooo delicious!

Our main food was either noodles or rice. I usually alternated. I had Pad Thai almost everyday, that is the large picture below. I love Pad Thai! It is noodles with meat and bean sprouts and green onion. We also had a lot of rice, usually with meat or egg and veggies. One time, I had KFC but was very disappointed at the amount of food I got for what I paid. You can see in the picture. I got the worlds smallest fries and a chicken sandwich. We also had Mexican food one night which was so good! The salsa was fresh made and the quesadilla was sooo flavorful. My favorite meal is in the middle left picture. It was fried pork and chicken with sticky rice served on a large banana leaf right out of the tree. Our host got us this food made by his brother and we ate it on the way back home. We just pulled over somewhere on the side of the road and he went to go cut a leaf out of a banana tree. In the bottom middle picture is a kind of grill out we had our last night there. Our students grilled us food in these cool looking metal plates that were sitting on top of coals. It was sooo good and such a beautiful way to end our time in Thailand.

My favorite part about eating in Thailand was when we all ate together. Our host and his family shared so many foods with us and we had such great times when we just sat together and ate. Many times, they would just bring us some food we’ve never had before just so we could try it. For example, the top middle picture is a green colored sandwich with something in it. I’m not sure what was in it, maybe some jelly. We just ate it. It was good. They also brought us some little mini round things with banana in them a few times. And they brought us bananas many times. At one point, we had so many bananas, we made a rule that everyone had to eat 2 bananas per day. In the middle picture, our host shared some black chicken with us. It was a special chicken that his family raised. I‘ve never had it before. In the bottom left picture, our host’s daughter was feeding me French fries. That was so sweet. I miss her so much! In the right middle picture, we went out for a Korean barbecue meal which was so good. They bring you raw meat and you cook it yourself on a little metal plate. Then they bring you sides to eat with that. It was delicious! I love that I had many new experiences eating in Thailand.

I have a few videos I want to share with you. I did a Hot Ramen challenge twice this month and they were both my idea. So I pretty much challenged myself on the first one and then I challenged others on the second one. They were both fun. Hope you enjoy the videos.
Then the last video is the video of us eating my favorite meal in the back of the truck.
