This past month has been amazing! So many good things have happened. I don’t know where to start. I guess I’ll start at the beginning. I want to thank all of you who have donated to my World Race. Because of you guys, I have reached my $5000 goal 2 months early! This was so encouraging to me and I thank you all from the bottom of my heart. Some of you were asking what my deadlines are.

My next goal is $10,000 by Sept. 22nd.

Then $13,000 by Nov. 30th.

Lastly, $18,017 by Jan. 31st.

I leave in October so I have to reach my final goal at the end of the 4th month while on the Race. However, I’m praying that I would raise the full $18,017 before I leave on the Race. Please join me in praying for this. If you haven’t donated yet, please pray about supporting me monthly. $50 or $100 a month would make a huge difference.

This month, I also took a trip to REI in Orlando to buy a lot of my gear. I got my tent, sleeping pad, shoes, rain jacket, fleece, backpack, daypack, pillow and some miscellaneous things. My niece and I spent 8 hours there. There were so many options and decisions I had to make. Since everything is so expensive and REI is so far away, I wanted to make sure I got the best things I could get. So we did a lot of researching and talking to people there. It was a great trip and we enjoyed visiting Winter Park the next day.

I was so excited about all the stuff I bought, that I decided to set up my tent in my apartment and spend the night sleeping on my sleeping pad and sleeping bag. Setting up the tent was a little bit challenging since I had never done that before. It didn’t make sense. So I decided to ask my sister to come help me. Neither one of us has ever set up a tent but I figured between the two of us, we would do it, somehow. Well, we did it! I tried sleeping in it the first night, but couldn’t fall asleep or if I did, I would just wake up again soon after. So around 3 in the morning, I finally decided to go in my bed. I gave it another try the next night and made it to the morning. I was so happy about that even though I didn’t really sleep well. I’ll just have to do it more often.

It was time for me to get an eye exam because I want to get new glasses before I go on the Race. I went to an eye doctor and she was very nice. I mentioned to her about going on the World Race and when I was checking out, she decided to give me 10% off the exam. Thank you Lord!!

Last thing I want to tell y’all is about my trip to Winn Dixie. I was at Winn Dixie buying some corn. I decided to take the corn out of the husk since there was a trash can there specifically for that. I think the proper term is ‘shucking corn.’ So as I was shucking corn, a lady looked at me and smiled. She said, “You’re ambitious, aren’t you?” It made me smile because I’ve never seen myself as ambitious. Honestly, I had to look up the definition because it’s not a word I use often and no one has ever used it to describe me. Some of the definitions are ‘to seek after earnestly; to aspire to; eagerly desirous of achieving or obtaining a specific goal.’ Now I know the lady was talking about my corn shucking skills, but I realized that I am an ambitious person. I am especially ambitious about this World Race. I am eagerly desiring to reach this goal and I am doing all I can to reach it. And like I always say, “I’m doing my best and God will do the rest.”

(I’m planning on adding some pictures to this blog. I’m still new to this, so hopefully it will work.)
