Buenos días
Journal Entry of 1st day in Medellin, Colombia:
Fecha es 9/15/17
7:30 am
Title – “God, how do you want me to move today?”
Notes – “Walk in faith and freedom through the unfamiliar paths.
Depend on God’s guidance. Perfect love casts out all fear. Respond in actions of love.”
Rewind 5 hours, when the squad arrived to Ciudad Refugio at 2 in the morning, when crime is casual. Just imagine stepping onto unfamiliar turf and the bus driver tells Chris “You need to go inside NOW! It is not safe out here.” My FEAR level of getting mugged or kidnapped was 100% in existence. I am sure everyone could sense I wanted to be inside as soon as possible.
FFW 5 hours, (eyes closed, head bowed)
“God, how do you want me to move today?”
As I listened to his voice I wrote down the words he gave me in my journal.
The words my father gave to me clicked with me later on that day when Mateo lead a team of Men including me to Manantiales (a neighboring town near Medellin). Our initial information earlier that day from Sophia (our Ministry Host) was that Manantiales was infested with gangs, drug addicts, and the sketch of all sketchy in Colombia. This time I didn’t feel any fear surround my soul when those words left Sophia’s mouth, instead I felt love within my soul.
As Mateo lead us through Manantiales, I felt as if there was a wind gust of love spreading throughout the town. I could feel the word TRUST pop in my head each and every step as the team and I walked to the house. Once we arrived, we started gathering the tin and painting it grey. The grey paint was used to absorb the sun’s reflection off of the tin so it wouldn’t blind incoming air traffic. After painting 13 cuts of tin, we were welcomed inside to start helping build the structure of the actual roof. When we finished for the day the family was very gracious towards the team of world racers. As we headed back to the foundation in Manantiales I thought about earlier that day and what I had learned from the Lord.
What did I learn???
TRUST
is Grande in relationships. I decided to trust my God to guide me through the trenches of darkness, I know for a fact he has a plan for me.
