For tonight’s team time*, we were given prompts randomly. We had five minutes to write a blog about the topic! My prompt was “What is your hope for your team?”
Here goes!
My hope for my team is that we would learn to be 100% honest in the most loving way possible. I hope that by the end of these 9 months, we are able to freely speak our minds without fear and without regret. I hope that we prevail as strong, confident women of God. Obviously, if we speak out of spite or anger, we will have regrets. I pray that my team and I would be capable of speaking as though we are the truest mouthpiece of Christ – that we would walk in love. As my teammate Morgan pointed out, the Bible commands us to walk in love when the world says to fall in love. This means that we allow our words to come from an overflowing appreciation of the way Jesus lived His life. When we share openly and honestly, that communicates a deep desire to see one another grow into the full creation He intended us to become. So in short, that’s why I hope my team learns to communicate through honesty. Without that honesty (even when it gets hard to hear), we won’t be able to draw growth out of each other. Personally, it’s been incredibly hard to not sugar coat my critique during our times of feedback. I can already see how much my teammates love one another and I’ve definitely felt their love for me! Even this early on, I can feel the Lord pulling us into swirling, deep, dark waters. He has stretched us and the enemy has attempted to create conflict and shroud us in darkness. The lies of the enemy include low self worth, a fear of speaking up, and anger over the little day-to-day things. Still, my teammates have proven that through Christ we are stronger than those lies being spoken over us by the enemy. So I guess rather than just say I hope for honesty, I say that I hope we continue to fight the lies with the truth of Christ. I hope that we continue to call out the good in our fellow women rather than focus on the negative. I hope that we keep fighting the good fight of faith and never grow weary in this.
*Team time is a nightly event where we sit down as a family and participate in quality time with each other. We complete blog posts, watch movies, give each other feedback from the week, study scripture, etc. It’s my favorite part of the day honestly!
In other news – I’M FULLY FUNDED!!! If you have a recurring donation, please cancel that donation – otherwise, your donation will continue regularly and be put towards a general fund for Adventures in Missions projects.
