1. If you tell a girl you like her lipstick, she may pull it out of her bag. Not to show it to you like you assume, but for you to try. And how do you say no???

  3. Santiago is the Pastor’s grandson. He is 3 years old. He LOVES his Lightning McQueen car and his gray truck (which he will take a hundred pictures of when you let him use your camera). He also loves playing with balls, whether kicking, throwing, or hitting.

  4. Our hosts have 2 dogs. One is named Cocita, which means “little thing.” The other is named Osita, which means little bear.

  5. El Salvador is very similar to America in a lot of ways…they play ping pong  and take selfies and have Pizza Hut and Starbucks and eat pancakes with syrup and hotdogs and sandwiches.

  6. Coffee is a big deal! Even the kids drink it.

  7. Futból is the favorite sport. Basketball is second.

  8. People drive crazy! Especially the public buses!

  9. It is currently the rainy season. It has rained almost once a day, every day since we arrived. It is supposed to be a little cooler during this season, according to the locals.

  10. Volcan (volcano) Santa Ana is the easier of the 2 volcanoes to hike…which doesn’t mean it’s an easy hike by any means! It takes roughly 2 hours to hike to the top and 2 hours to hike back down. But oh the view!!!

  11. Oh my, do the people here have energy! Dancing with them has been so much fun but so much work!

  12. People drink out of bags. Sometimes it comes packaged that way, or sometimes whatever is in the bottle is poured into a ziploc bag and drank with a straw.

  13. You can find pretty much anything on a public bus. I have seen pinatas and a bag of hangers and a mannequin and a potted plant and several machetes and all types of food (often that they try to sell to you).

  14. Bread is served with most meals.

  15. Papusas are VERY good! So are plantains and tamales!
