Written on Tuesday, August 8th:
Yesterday, August 7th, I arrived in San Salvador, El Salvador. The excitement I felt when the airplane touched down on foreign soil was automatic and surreal. After going through the standard airport processes, we got picked up by our ministry host, Pastor Melvin and his friend Debbie (she’s from Canada). We drove around 2 hours back to his church in Santa Ana where we were going to be staying. Oh my, the scenery!!! It was so green in the country (So. Much. Corn!) and so colorful and lively in the cities. Oh, and we stopped at Pizza Hut for lunch along the way.
We are staying in Iglesia Mas Que Vencedores (MQV for short). Translation: we are more than conquerors! This is taken from Romans 8:37, “No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.” The church has several services each week: prayer service, Bible study, youth night, small group, and a Sunday service. They also have a dance ministry and work in the schools teaching or helping with English classes and sports classes. Stay tuned to learn more about the ministry we will be doing…right now it’s still in the planning stages, but I am super excited!
Last night, our first night in El Salvador, we attended the church’s prayer service! Talk about passion! I couldn’t understand hardly any of what was being said, but I could feel the Holy Spirit’s presence and the people’s passion for the Lord. There was also worship, and I sang and worshipped as if I understood the words. It was a beautiful moment for me! I met a little girl named Gabi, who is 10 years old, and she sat beside me during worship. I hope to be able to talk more with her as I learn more Spanish. I do know her favorite color is pink!
Today, after breakfast, we all loaded up in the van and came to Starbucks! Yep, you read that right! (That’s where I’m writing this blog) We did a lot of ministry planning! Right now, we are just hanging out, blogging and talking! More to come!!!
God Bless,
Chelsea
Financial Update:
I need to raise around $5,500 more before November 30th. Please pray about donating any amount so that I am able to continue the Lord’s work through the World Race this year!
