“You of little faith, why did you doubt?” (Matthew 14:31)

When I read this in the past I thought it was a chide. But yesterday when I heard it I heard something different.

(Matthew 17:20) “And He said to them, “Because of the littleness of your faith; for truly I say to you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you.”

Was He calling Peter to put into action the faith he had? Just as He called Gideon “mighty warrior” when he was hiding in the wine press?

(Judges 6:12-13 “When the angel of the Lord appeared to Gideon, he said, “The Lord is with you, mighty warrior.”

Pardon me, my lord,” Gideon replied,”)

Perhaps it was Jesus saying, “Hey! You can move mountains! Why did you doubt?!”

Today I’m sitting in a tire center and again God’s got a sense of humor in setting up my schedule. I barely have the money to pay for the bag I bought from another world racer and on my way home to send the money my tires start slipping on the road. Why? Cause they’re threadbearing… basically peeling off as I drive.

Fun.

No really! Totally wanna laugh at how God’s forcing me to trust His provision.

This morning I was sitting with my Aunt as she exhorted me with Psalm 37. She showed me the verbs she’d underlined: Fret not! Trust! Delight yourself! Commit your way! Cease from anger! Rest in the Lord!

Trust in the Lord and do good.

“It’s not going to be easy,” she said. “But trust what He takes you into.”

*sigh*, So here I am. Sitting in the tire place, paying for things I wasn’t expecting to pay for. And I know that even in the payment God’s having mercy because the tire agent definitely gave me a discount.

So what’s your schedule God? What is it you have for me today? Is today about being in want and praising you? What will bring you glory? Cause I’m all in. Even as fear and tears threaten to overwhelm me, I’m all in. This is on you. My time is in your hands.

I of little faith, help me to move the mountains.
