Cara Grace this one is for you.

For those of you who do not know, I’m a type one diabetic. Being a type one on the world race means carrying six months worth of insulin from country to country. Insulin needs to be refrigerated in order to effectively keep my body healthy. Today the power went out at our apartment in Battambang, Cambodia (as it does fairly often). Normally I am not worried about it, but today I was. Ten minutes had gone by and the power still hadn’t come back on. My incredible friend Kate and I prayed that the Lord would turn the power back on. We finished praying and nothing happened.

But I felt that I heard the Lord promise me He would turn the power back on before my team and I left the apartment for dinner.

About ten more minutes passed by and the electricity still had not come back on. I was sitting inside in the dark staring at the powerless refrigerator. My team was waiting outside for our tuk-tuk driver to come and take us to dinner. Then Aly came into to the room I was sitting in.

Aly has been sick ever since we arrived in Cambodia a month ago. She has had to visit the local clinic several times and she is overwhelmed by how much money she has been spending on clinic visits. The clinic costs forty dollars every time she goes. Visiting the doctor is considered a personal expense rather than an expense the race covers.

I felt the Lord tell me that if I gave Aly forty dollars for her next doctor’s visit He would turn the power back on before we left for dinner.

I wrestled with this. Forty dollars is a lot of money (at least for a racer’s budget) and I knew that the power would come back on in the apartment at some point whether or not I gave her the money, but I couldn’t refute the tug in my heart to trust God and give it to her. I decided to trust Him.

I reached into my purse to get the forty dollars as Aly wiped tears from her eyes. She didn’t know what I was doing. I extended my arm with the money in my hand and RIGHT as my arm was fully extended to Aly, the lights came back on in the apartment. Aly looked into my eyes and knew exactly what had just happened. We both burst into tears.

God loves to increase our faith. He loves to show off. He loves to make us laugh. Coincidences do not exist, but God’s creative and deep love for humanity does.

IN OTHER NEWS IT IS NOW MONTH 2 (WAIT WHAT???)

My team and I switched ministries for this month. We are still painting murals at Dewey International School in the mornings. In the afternoons we are teaching english at Ezra ministries! We are so excited for all this month has in store!

ALSO

We got back from month one debrief in Siem Reap on Tuesday. It was incredible. I had a stomach bug, but it is okay because I needed the rest. Siem Reap is beautiful, but I am so excited to be back in Battambang!

ALSO

Our originally issued visas expired today. Our host tried to get them renewed for us in country two days ago, but was not able to. SO yesterday we went to Thailand for lunch! We had to “leave” Cambodia in order to have another month long visa issued to us. After 10 hours of travel and immigration round trip we are good to go for month two! What a life.

I love you all.
