Hey everyone! I have such exciting news to share with you. Us Wild Fires have been at Seed of Love, a ministry for orphans, abused, neglected, and HIV kids in Lesotho and we’ve been given the go-ahead to raise funds to buy Bibles for these amazing kids.
I’ll say it again in case you missed it.
We’re fundraising to buy Bibles for the kids here!
We’ve watched the kids handle with such care the one Bible that they have here. It’s in English and was a gift from one of the first World Racers who came here to one of the older girls. They pass the book around as they look up scriptures in church. One time they even passed it back to me to follow along because they didn’t know I had my own. Once they found that out, I had at least two kids crowding around me, shoulder to shoulder in order to read alongside me as I held a third.
God put it on our hearts to see each of these kids with their own Bible. It would be such a gift and what better weapon to put in their hands against all of the spiritual warfare around them, all of the hurt they’ve already experienced in life. I’ve heard a few of their stories and they’re heartbreaking. I’ve looked around at the smiling vibrant faces, the crazy, exuberant, sassy personalities and wondered how anyone could have ever hurt such precious little ones, how anyone could have ever decided to give them up. I just don’t get it. Maybe some didn’t have a choice, but others did. Now I look around and see such a clear portrait of God’s love for these kids.
I’ve been asked to take this month and just love on these kids; hold them, smile and laugh with them. Play with them. Believe it or not, all kids understand play, it’s a universal language that has no barriers and that is something beautiful.
There is so much to love about these kids, that I could be here for a while, but I do want to say this;
We only have six days to raise the funds for these Bibles.
This is so we have enough time to jump through all of the hoops in the process and get the Bibles on campus before we leave.
We only have until Jan 29!
So please, please, please prayerfully consider (quickly), how you can contribute to this fund. I know I myself am not fully funded yet, but right now, in this moment, this is more important, to put the Word of God into hands that will treasure it. Let’s show kids who have never known a parent’s love what it means to know Love.
