I have a friend who is an amazing writer. She writes reasons we should all be able to celebrate every Friday. We have so many reasons to be thankful. Isn’t it weird how we are constantly wanting more time for things yet when we take just a few moments at the end of the year to reflect on the past year, we realize how much has actually changed? Like so much. So much can happen in one year.

I have done so many things in this past year. New friendships, new church, dated 2 boyfriends (at different times) and learned a lot from both relationships, new roommates and old roommates, applied and got accepted to the World Race, my sister got married, my parents and brother bought a business, the list goes on. All wonderful things. The year does not go without complications as well though. But through that, we can still all celebrate life, and who God is and how he sees us. He has given all of us a bed to sleep on, shelter over our heads, daily food, good health for the most part, and his very life within us. We get to be Jesus to people, if we so choose and obey. Every person we come into contact with is an opportunity to share Jesus with them and use the authority and power He gave us, through the Holy Spirit, to heal them of any disease or emotional baggage.

We can celebrate in a different way than the rest of the world. In a way that doesn’t require alcohol and making fun of someone to get laughs out of others. We celebrate because of the life of Jesus and the hope in Him. His promises are true. His provision and love is real. We can celebrate in JOY because we are drunk on the Holy Spirit. A person, not a substance. Let’s bring in 2017 with celebration.
