Count it all joy..

In scripture the word says to “count it all joy when you face trials of many kinds because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” – James 1:2-4

Count it all joy… when you face trials? Like forreal… Really Lord?

This verse I’ve been clinging to often here in India. I will not sugar coat it. Being in India hasn’t been easy. It’s actually been very hard. But I see that obeying Christ is worth the hard things I experience, and I find JOY in that.

So many have asked me so whats it like in India?
Well for one It’s HOT. And not just the curry I eat. Lol Typically it’s about 95 degrees here on any given day. I typically wake up in my tent to a pool of water of my own sweat. I’ve been experiencing a lot of heat rashes.
Not having air conditioning is hard.
But cold showers are actually a blessing., and so has the rain that the Lord has been providing here.

I eat a lot of curry and rice, eggs and chapati (it’s kinda like a harder tortilla ) as a staple everyday, and sometimes it messes with my stomach. We eat chicken usually once or twice a week.

But I’ve honestly grown to love the food .

And on another note.. I squat in a pot.

I usually wake up to 10-20 new mosquito or bug bites. (That’s hard) but I’ve adjusted.
And When I say there is bugs everywhere I’m not kidding! I’ve never seen anything like it. Small bugs and big bugs and anything in between. And lizards crawl the walls.

Here’s some of the little fellas

And here’s a few of the bigger fellas

BUT…..that’s nothing to when I see people who have far less and have immense joy because they are rooted in God’s word and it manifests into there life.

I could complain and say more of what is really hard for me or I could keep things in perspective. People live in far worse situations here in India and I will not complain because it’s hard. I know that this season is temporary for me but many people here this is there reality and yet they are grateful for what they do have and make the most of it.

So yes being in India has been hard. Not having the luxuries that we have in America is hard.

But I’m counting it all joy because I know this is exactly where God has called me to be, and he put me here for a purpose that I need to fulfill.. so I’m choosing this.
I’m looking forward to what is to come here and to what God will show me.

I have just 5 more days here in India, then off to Nepal to spend a month there!

Much love,
