BULE BULE BULE!! (Pronounced boolay) This is the word that I have become accustomed to hearing every time I step outside. It means white person. It is so funny how things that seem so different from back home have already started to become normal. Well except for people driving on the left side of the road…I may possibly get hit crossing the street. They also do not have traffic laws so people drive like they are in a video game: cutting each other off and driving literally in the middle of the lanes.

This week, our team has been helping out all around the school in any way that we can. Candace and I have been painting drama sets for the musical that will be held in May so unfortunately we will not be able to attend. Other people on the team have been rearranging classrooms, organizing books, teaching English to parents, and completing any tasks they ask of us. One of my favorite parts about our ministry this month is getting to see how involved the entire faculty is with the students, parents, and each other. They are all true examples of what it looks like to live in community together and how to share God’s love each and every day.

This month we also get to help out at the Freedom House for women who have been prostitutes or were victims of sex trafficking.  This is a safe house to provide these women with food, clothing, a place to live, and learn about the Lord.  We got to go on Tuesday morning and meet the three girls who are currently living there.  While none of them spoke much English, let alone spoke at all, we got to do Zumba with them for about 2 and 1/2 hours and see them smile and come out of their shells a little bit.  Just a heads up, if you are planning to Zumba for over 30 minutes, make sure you’re not wearing jeans and have a towel handy.  The women all have some type of mental disorder, which stems from their disheartening stories.  But again, seeing the people who run this organization and their strong faith in following the Lord’s calling in their life even when circumstances are not what they imagined reminds me of how vast He is compared to our small minds.  That afternoon we went to Kita designs company, where Kita means us.  All of their products are made from hand by Indonesian women who have been victims of sex trafficking and it gives them a job and again another safe place to be.  The amazing woman who runs the Freedom House also began Kita Designs.  I’ll put the link to their website at the bottom so y’all can check it out.  I am excited to work alongside these women as well.

I think my favorite part about this week was getting to lead Chapel at school on Thursday.  We lead a panel like questionnaire and answered set questions about why we were there, shared what it means to live a yes life for God, and how we should abide in Christ.  Before we went up and spoke, there was a time of worship led by the students.  We sang Oceans by Hillsong United (it’s bomb so you should give it a listen) and when we got to the bridge, that is when it hit me that God is truly everywhere and is inviting us to take those jumps with Him.

“Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders
Let me walk upon the waters
Wherever You would call me
Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander
And my faith will be made stronger
In the presence of my Savior”

As humans, we think such simple thoughts.  Yet God is boundless and performs miracles everyday.  We just have to be willing to ask God how we can be the body to fulfill His plan.

Thank you to everyone for all the prayers and support!  I still have about $1,000 left to raise before I am fully funded.  So if you feel led to donate that would be wonderful.

With love,

Caley 😀
