It’s month 9 and I am in Chaing Mai, Thailand for the next three weeks! The month started off with debrief and now we are 3 days into ministry. Ministry this month looks completely different from any other month. This month our entire squad is staying at the Adventures base and doing various ministries. Adventures recently purchased a hostel and part our ministry is helping take responsibilities of the team here by doing various jobs here and there around the hostel. Another ministry is helping out at a local orphanage. The final ministry, the one I am in, is what Adventures calls ATL—Ask the Lord.
This month I officially have no ministry. Every morning I get up have quiet time and ask the Lord what and where He wants me to go and do today. However, I have felt that there is a certain group that the Lord wants me to minister to this month—college students and gamers. Our hostel is right next door to a huge mall full of stores that sell gaming computers and accessories. The mall also has an e-sports arena. Going into the month I had no idea that I would be right next door to PC gamers paradise. Once I got here I realized what a huge ministry potential it could be. Three days in and I still haven’t found anyone who plays League of Legends to talk to, but I know that God still wants me to go over to the mall and at least prayer walk through it. I know that one of these days I will find someone to talk too.
The over group I have felt called to minister to this month is college students. In college I was a part of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship and started to develop a heart for ministering to college students. After the WR I am applying to work for InterVarsity as a campus staff minister and decided it would be awesome if I could serve with college students here in Chiang Mai. A little background, InterVarsity is part of a bigger Christian college-student organization called IFES (International Fellowship of Evangelical Students). IFES has a movement in Thailand with a group of students at Chiang Mai University. I thought it would be amazing to serve with IFES in another country.
I am excited to see what the Lord has for me this month.
