I am taken back by the beauty of the Himalayan mountains. You could see them as soon as we got above the clouds flying out of Delhi. Then we spent a week in Kathmandu, where the mountains were lost to smog and fog. After debrief we traveled west to our ministry in Pokhara; it was still hazy out, and the mountains were lost to us. Our host told us that they are just right there and then pointed to the clouds above the hills. We traveled up into the “mountains” or foothills to the mountains in the dark so we didn’t see any of the peaks. The next morning we woke up and there they were, just resting in the morning light. We were blown away by their majesty, even if they were partly covered by the clouds. Over the next couple days the sky cleared up and we saw the mountains in their full glory.

The Mountains.
They stand above everything, even the clouds.
They shine in they sun.
Always present through rain or shine.
And that got me thinking. The mountains are always there even I can see them or not. They remain steadfast. Just like the steadfast love of the Father. “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” –Hebrews 13:8. And how much more steadfast and unchanging is our God. WOW! I also reflected on how the mountains are solid rocks and how majestic these rocks are, but I know a ROCK even more beautiful. “The Lord is my rock and my fortress and deliver, my God, my rock in whom I take refuge., my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.” –Psalm 18:2

The Mountains.
They remind me of our beautiful Creator God. As I live life this month at the base of these majestic mountains, I can’t but help worship and rejoice in the God of the universe. And even if I can or can’t see the mountains I will still rejoice because they are still there despite the circumstances around them. I will always cherish these mountains and continue to rejoice in the Lord my God. Therefore I challenge you to remember the majesty of our God and rejoice in Him today.
