Communion is not just the breaking of bread and the drinking of the cup in remembrance of what our Savior, Jesus Christ, did on the cross and proclaiming the Lord’s death until He comes (1 Corinthians 11:17-34). Communion is about drawing close to God and abiding in Him. Communion is more than just being intimate with God, it’s about trusting the Holy Spirit and pressing into His Kingdom work on earth, no matter what the cost is. Trusting and following the Holy Spirit is not easy and a lot of the time it doesn’t make sense.

“The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.”

—John 3:8

Living by the Spirit is difficult, it often doesn’t make worldly sense, but it makes perfect sense to Father. At training camp, we were challenged to live bold even risky lives for Christ. Not risky as in dangerous or living on the edge but risky as putting all your trust and faith in the Holy Spirit. To be willing to go wherever the Holy Spirit leads and willing to live an uncomfortable life. Uncomfortable, that’s something a lot of us choose to avoid at all cost. We live lives that are constantly surrounded by comforts. Being comfortable is easy and relaxing, but God calls us to step away from our comforts. At the beginning of Jesus’s ministry, He called the first disciples:

“And Jesus said to them, ‘Follow me, and I will make you become fishers of men.’

And immediately they left their nets and followed him.”

—Mark 1:17-18

The disciples left what they knew, they left their comfort behind. As I take the next step of faith in following the Lord, I pray that I that I will surrender my comfort and learn to press into God to be my Comforter.

A key part of living an uncomfortable life for Christ is to be present in MY life. To be present in where I am and what I am doing, to not look forward to where I could be or what I could be doing. This will be one of the hardest things on the World Race: to be present in each and every ministry each month, to not look forward to the next month or all the comforts of home—this includes all my friends and family. In order to be engaged with God’s ministry, I will have to focus on only staying connect with a few of you, mostly my family. This also means that I won’t be on Facebook regularly especially the first 6 weeks of the World Race. While I might not be able to stay connected with all of you, you can stay connected with me by FOLLOWING by blog. My goal is to post once a week; in some countries this will be easier than others, but I will try to keep you all updated with stories from what God is doing for His Kingdom.

The World Race will not be an easy 11 months, it will require a lot of effort on my part to live uncomfortably and in full communion with God. I will need to daily press into God for my strength to keep doing His work. Please pray that I will be engaged in each and every ministry God places me into. Pray that I will seek full communion with God, that I might grow closer to Him. Amen.
