All throughout my pre-race journey I would always say how excited I am for month 3, mainly because it was Bulgaria. I was excited for reasons that you not expect though… I was excited because I knew God would do big things, simply because Bulgaria was often one of the countries overlooked on my route. I mean, everyone was excited for Serbia because it was the first country, Antioch spends a lot of time in Thailand, Myanmar and Namibia are countries that no one normally goes to, but Bulgaria gave me no real reason to be excited. It may not make sense to you, but that was what amped it all up for me. I was going to have the chance to love on people that may not always feel loved. Then, two days ago this all changed for 3 of the teams on X Squad.

“You have the opportunity go to Greece.”

Instant emotions burst forth. Screams of excitement, tears of happiness, prayerful contemplation, and an unnatural sense of peace.

“You would be working with refugees on the island of Lesvos, or you could do Unsung Heroes in Bulgaria.”

More excitement, more tears, more contemplation, more peace.

“If you decide to go to Greece there will be some extra funding. For all 3 teams you would have to raise $7,000 more collectively.”

Silence fell over the room.

More funding?! Are you kidding?! I am already having a hard time raising $18,017, you think that I want to raise more than that?!

“Talk and pray about it as teams. The only way that we are allowing a team to go is if all members on the team say yes. If there is one ‘no’ then you will be doing Unsung Heroes in Sofia.”

Team Abundance gathered up and we prayed. What felt like eternity was probably only 2 minutes. Over and over in my head I was repeating the question to God, “Is Greece where you want us?”

The answer to that question came when our praying had ended. “Caleb, do you not trust the 4 teams still in Bulgaria? Even though you may want to love on the people of Bulgaria, I equipped them just as much as you.”

There we go. My decision was yes. My yes was surrounded by 4 other yes’s. Just one more needed and we will be committed.

“I would like some more time to pray about it.”

That made me extremely nervous. Was God really the one saying to me that I should trust my squad? Or was that just me selfishly wanting to go to Greece?

“God was that you? Or was I just being selfish?”

No answer…

“God I just want to do your will.”

After a couple hours, my team and I met up again. This time with a huge elephant in the room.

“I prayed about it, and God said ‘Go’.”

GUYS WE ARE GOING TO GREECE!!!

So there you have it. My team and I officially have a route change. Instead of going to Bulgaria we will be serving in Greece with refugees. Even though I was so excited about Bulgaria, I know God things even greater in store for my team and I.

As you read before, we now have to do a little extra funding to make this happen. It was originally supposed to be around $7,000 total, but because of God’s goodness and grace we only have to raise $2,300!!! How crazy is that?! With 45 people helping, this should be a cake walk, so join in on the fun! Help my squad out and send us!
