The Psalms are prayers of God’s people. Poetry, songs, praise, cries of desperation.

As I navigate my prayer life and deepening intimacy with the Lord, I’m often reminded that there is a whole template of prayers written that I can reference. Different ones for every emotion or situation I could ever think of.

Often, I re-write a Psalm into my own words to make my prayer or praise personal.

Psalm 54 paraphrase-

Jesus, you are mighty to save. You are my savior.

Hear my cries of praise, of glory, of curiosity, of pleading for transformation.

The enemy is near, but you are nearer.

You are victorious. I am victorious- with you.

Spirit of God- my helper, my friend.

You are ruler of my life.

You are upholder of my life- against opposition or criticism, to support and defend me.

I offer my life a sacrifice- all of it. Have your way.

I am overwhelmed with thankfulness when I reflect on your faithfulness.

You are my protector.

To you all the glory and honor.

Amen.

Communicate with the Lord- there WILL be transformation!
