I found myself looking out the bus window as I’m riding through the snow covered mountains in Romania. It’s absolutely beautiful.

Today we are headed to a castle and the infamous Black Sea. I can’t help but feel excited about the mystical feelings that come from living a life in the unknown.
How did I even get here?
Often times I sit in awe with Jesus as I ask Him this very question.
Me, a small town girl in this giant world ended up in this very moment, living in places you only ever see in the movies.

If I’m going to be completely honest though, and I always promise to be with you guys, I’ve been struggling a lot ever since we got to Romania.

There’s so much spiritual darkness.

As we were road tripping over here from Serbia, we were informed that there is a population of .2% of born again believers in this region.

WHAT?

Yep. This region is called the graveyard of missionaries.

And man oh man, do I feel that.

To make it harder, our day to day life is spent in an office organizing files, brainstorming marketing techniques, interviewing new potential missionaries, researching new partners and creating spreadsheets.

Sounds a little too much like my very familiar job at the Y.

Again, in all honesty I loved my job at the Y so I walked into this month super stoked because this is what I know how to do.

I sound ridiculous saying it because how could I not have known but little did I know though that I would be challenged beyond what I could have imagined.

From the famous words of Lex, “It’s finding Gold in the mediocrity.”

It’s been a lot of dragging ourselves out of bed, struggling to avoid the tension that sat in the room when one of us started feeling over stressed by the work load, one of our own facing a Serbian sickness that ended in the hospital or family emergencies that ended in one of our squad mates going home for a bit.

But y’all, I have the best news.

It’s doesn’t have to be that way.

Day 3 of us being here, Jesus told me this was going to be a month of VICTORY.

You know why? This isn’t the end. The kingdom of God is moving in this village one splash of light at a time.
We have seen seeds being planted, fruit growing and people coming to Jesus.
We have pushed past the doors being closed to us and rebuked the lies the enemy tries to speak over us.
We have stepped out of our comfortable places and broke down walls to start building up the kingdom.

All the trials and reflection has made you a humbling and growing place, Romania. It’s been real.

“My name will be great among the nations, from where the sun rises to where it sets. In every place incense and pure offerings will be brought to me, because my name will be great among the nations,” says the Lord Almighty.” Malachi 1:11
