Part 1 of #KeysfortheJourney:

While at launch, everyone was gifted a key from one of our squad mentors, Austin. During training camp we wrote down a word that represented our expectations for the race. Austin prayed about these words and created a key for each of us with those words.

My word was JOY.

I didn’t know what that was going to look like for the year, but I desired a deeper joy of the Spirit to fill this year.
When we were gifted these keys, we were asked to pray about the impact the words on the keys would have and pray about someone to pass it on to.
I forgot to pray about mine though. I put it on my neck and moved on with my day. (Sorry, I’m human and sometimes I forget to pray.. don’t worry though, God & I have already had a conversation about it.) Anyways, I was walking down the street here in Novi Sad during our first couple of days when I remembered the key and jumped right in.. “Jesus, what does this word mean for the year? I’m not feeling like any extra joy is present. What’s going to happen?” All I heard was silence so I decided to wait with the mindset that maybe the joy would start later on in the race.

Now here I am almost 2 weeks later and the Lord is SO GOOD. I have found myself praying for moments of laughter within our team without even making the connection between that and the key but the Lord knew we needed those moments of laughter to UNITE our team

We have literally laughed so much this past week and a half that some of us actually peed our pants, tears have come streaming, and the ugly gasp for air that sounds like a seal has happened. We have had times when we can’t even get words out because all of us are literally in a burst of laughter and it doesn’t stop. The Lord has provided a deep root of joy in our team and I cannot wait to see what else He does with this key and with this fruit of the Spirit.
